The Healing Power of Light
Laser light increases the energy available to cells.

Low Level Laser Therapy (LLLT) has been in use in Europe and other countries for nearly 30 years. LLLT is unique in that it actually stimulates the body to heal from within. Photons (little packets) of light are administered to the body and absorbed by the injured cells without producing heat. The cells are then stimulated and respond with a higher rate of metabolism. This results in increased circulation in the body, relief from pain, acceleration of the healing process and reduces inflammation.

LLLT has a direct effect on immunity status by stimulation of the natural killer cells in the immune system. Photons of light from lasers penetrate deeply into tissue and accelerate cellular reproduction and growth. The laser light increases the energy available to the cell so that the cell can take on nutrients faster, and to get rid of waste products. As a result of exposure to laser light, the cells of tendons, ligaments, and muscles are repaired faster.

The formation of new capillaries is significantly increased in damaged tissue when using LLLT. This speeds up the healing process, closes wounds quickly and reduces scar tissue.

During the seventies, German scientist Dr Fritz-Albert Popp demonstrated that he could repair a 99% damaged cell by illuminating it with a very weak intensity of light, a phenomenon he called 'photorepair'. Recent scientific research has provided us with an explanation of the healing power of light. We know why light heals and how much is needed, for instance, jaundice at birth can be reversed by exposure to blue light and simulated sunlight helps Seasonal Affected Disorders. It is a method of dispensing light into the body at the correct power and frequency in order to facilitate such healing reactions.

Using LLLT in conjunction with the other therapies we offer, can be a very powerful tool to assist in the healing process. Contact us for more information.
